Beauty Within Your Eyes

Before I start to paint, I'll usually have about 5 different ideas as to what it's going to look like. Within that first stroke I'll add about 5 other ideas into it. With the choice of a color, I'll contemplate the perfect mixtures. Before I began this one, I knew I wanted to dedicate it to my mother. Off the bat I knew I wanted to draw a lady, maybe focus on only one part of her facial structure, use a variety of color, and needed certain objects to define and connect the painting to my mother. Lastly I needed lots of detail, since my mother is very detail oriented. I started out with her eyes, my initial plan was to paint both her eyes, but after the first one, I pondered a bit. I painted her with green eyes because my mother always wished her eyes were any other color other than brown. I then added splashes of color all around it, 4 colors in each corner. Then I really had to think for the last touch of the painting. What and how could I really represent my mother. She has a fascination with lady bugs (for their luck), and butterflies (for their beauty), but i felt that those were too easy. After several days of thinking, I thought why does this part have to be so intricate, detailed or the central point. I was simply thinking too much and decided to paint flowers. You see each flower in life has a different meaning. Such as, delicacy and humility, compassion, dignity, love, wisdom, integrity, fascination, rejection, loyal love, etc.. Evrything good in life, all the sorrows, pain, laughter, hardship, and love in life can be characterized by some flower and my mother is all those flowers in one. So why not? They are a meaning behind a beauty, just like my mother.
